I don't usually blog twice in one day but I just can't help myself tonight. The Box Elder News Journal (our local paper that serves all of Box Elder County) is published every Wednesday, and today being Wednesday we received our paper in the mail just like we do every Wednesday.
While reading the paper earlier today Quent touched on the highlights and like all good husbands read parts of articles to me to give me a sense of what is happening right here in Box Elder County.
My favorite part of the paper is the "Community News" section, all the small towns have a newspaper correspondent (well most anyway, Mantua doesn't contribute) and the weekly articles are basically a reprint of the weekly ward bulletin (for all my "non Utah" friends and family a ward is a unit in the LDS Church similar to a Catholic Parish).
I thought I would share some of this week's news with everyone, it's just too good to pass up.
From the Promontory section..."On Sunday, son Aaron and friend Shuan came to breakfast at the Double S Bar Grill and helped Winnie feed the cows. Winnie got home in time to change for choir practice and church" (Side note, Winnie is Promontory's correspondent)
More from Promontory ... "On Thursday Winnie's son and friend Tony came to the ranch to fix the hay loader control handle so Winnie could feed hay again. 'Thank you so much boys,' Winnie says gratefully" ..."On Friday, Winnie visited the lobby at Zion's Bank in Brigham City to see their display of ancient artifacts."
From Corinne ... two familes blessed their babies and two families had baptisims, the best line ... Corinne Second Ward had one baby blessed Sunday ... Grandparents are David, Kathy and Teresa Bingham (just wondering about the two wives?)
From Bear River ... Vickie Rasmussen has spent a week in California helping her mother with a broken hip.
Of course there is real news, like the school board debate on which elementary school in Brigham City to close and what is going to happen with ATK if Obama cuts the rocket booster funding. Other headlines include information about Easter Egg hunts and what local churches are doing for Easter.
Unfortunatly I can't link to the community sections online. The BENJ is online but only has the hardcore news avalible for free. If you want to read the paper you have to subscribe to the online edition.
