Our new pet

This pheasant has been hanging around the house the past few days.  He goes from the front yard to the back yard, it's been fun to watch him dig for food. 

Just like when we were kids

My great-grandfather was a sheep farmer in Wyoming.  When we were kids (and I mean little kids) we happened to be in Wyoming when it was time to move the sheep from the ranch just outside of Burlington, Wyoming to the mountain for summer grazing.  (Now many of my relatives may correct me on how this was done exactly, like I said, I was a little kid the only time I was up there for the sheep move.)  We of course weren't helping, we were watching if the truth be told, we were probably in the way.

Well those memories of those couple of days came flooding back to me yesterday when about 1,000 sheep arrived in the pasture just west of the hatchery.  They over nighted in the field and then moved through Mantua, down US Highway 89 through Brigham City onto Tremonton.  I am not sure where their final desitination is or if they'll end up in  your freezer as lamb chops, but it was fun to see that not all farmers load all their sheep into big semi trucks to move.

Hangin' at the Fair

Joy invited me and (aunt) Melissa to go to the fair with the kids and what an adventure we had.  Due to the obsession TJ currently has with cows, we spent a lot of time in the cattle area of the fair and some time in the Midway so Morgan could have some fun on the rides.

We saw a baby cow that was just one week old, TJ was able to help feed the baby cow as well as pet the cow.  We watched a couple of the cows take a bath and had fun looking at the other animals.  There were bunnies, goats, pigs, chickens, and more.

The kids had a great time in the mini farm experience.  They were able to milk a cow, feed a cow, plant seeds, pick their crops, brush a sheep, pick an apple, ride a tractor and collect eggs.  They took everything they harvested to the market where they received a dollar to spend in the grocery store.  A very cool attraction for the kids.

It was way to hot to be at the fair, who would have thought it would have been over 90 degrees on September 18?  Crazy hot and I got some sun, but hey it was the first time I'd done anything fun since being attacked by my killer cold.

Congrats Hot Rod

For only the third time since I left the Jazz three years ago, Quent and I went to the Jazz game Friday night for the Hot Rod Hundley retirement ceremony. "Hots" had been the voice of the Jazz for 35 years and retired at the end of the 2008-09 season. I worked closely with Rod for the 10 years I was with the Jazz and it was fun to go back and see the new Hot Rod Hundley Media Center.

The game was a lot of fun as the short handed Jazz beat the Kings. After the game we were able to go down to the Jazz guest room where we were able to see a lot of the people I used to work with as well as see a bunch of the players.

It was a really fun night and I'm glad we were able to be part of the ceremony!

Girls Night Out

I've been so social lately I can hardly stand it!  Tuesday night was the second annual class of '91 Olympus Girls Night Out.  I wasn't able to attend last year due to our move so I was excited when they decided to to it again this year.

We all met at a resturant in downtown Salt Lake called The Wild Grape Bistro which was simply amazing.  It is located in the old Avenues Bakery building on South Temple and is owned by a former classmate of ours. The group was a bit smaller than was originally planned but it was the perfect size to catch up with the ones I hadn't seen since high school and get to know a couple more that I didn't know it in High School.

What a great night with some "old" friends.  Can't wait to go again next year!
