Photo Safari in our Backyard

Quent and I spotted an owl the other night while walking around the hatchery so tonight we went out a little earlier and armed with a camera, am I glad we did. There are some perks to living in the mountains away from the hustle and bustle of the city, all of these pictures were taken within 100 yards of my house.

Tonight we saw two owls, two cinnamon teal ducks, three mallard ducks, a blue heron, a handful of deer (of course we see them every day) and the cows that were recently put up on the mountain to graze. (so in all fairness if I'm going to mention the cows, I should probably mention that we saw four or five robins, two magpies, and a few bees.)

Last night our friendly skunk was in the yard, and of course that is one animal I don't grab the camera and run for. We watched it wonder through the front yard and through the fence and off to his den.

Here are a few of the pictures we took tonight (we took over 100). Click on the picture to see a larger view.
