Photography Workshop

On Saturday I spent the day in Logan at a Lifestyle Photography workshop.  It was fun to get together with other casual photographers and share tips and tricks.  I learned a lot at the workshop and had a great afternoon learning how to pose people and what looks good and what doesn't. Needless to say I need more practice -- yes I'm talking about practice -- and hope to get out and take more pictures real soon.  If you'd like to be my guinea pig let me know!

Shop's Open

So I've got quite a few table runners from the past couple of years and as everyone knows I have a ton of fabric so I decided that I'd open my etsy shop in hopes to sell a few things for the holidays.

I'm still looking for a job but Quent and I thought this would be a good way to pass the time and earn some money for the upcoming holidays.

Spooky Crazy Halloween (Eve)

My family got together on Saturday to celebrate Halloween, the little kids went trick-or-treating and the adults ate, ate and ate while watching the University of Utah football game -- a great victory for all involved.

Alyssa was a veterinarian, Patrick was a monkey, Morgan was a hamburger turned cheerleader and T.J. was a dragon.  The kids ate lots of candy and had a lot of fun handing out candy to the trick-or-treaters, Morgan enjoys handing out candy more than she likes going out to get candy. 

This year's Halloween fest featured homemade chili, little smokies, stuffed mushrooms, homemade meatballs, shrimp, spinach dip, cheese dip, jello worms and homemade cupcakes.  I was a sight to be seen in Joe and Joy's house.  We definitely made a mess but a good time was had by all!

Earlier in the day Quent went up to his mom's house with my brother to help hang the TV on the wall above the fireplace and I went to lunch with a good friend.  T.J. and Morgan helped me put the finishing touches on the cupcakes -- orange sprinkles and plastic spider rings.  It was a good day in Salt Lake!

Riverton Wins!!!

Quent and I went to the Riverton High School playoff game.  The victory was a first for the Silverwolves, last year they earned a home playoff game and this year they earned a home playoff victory.  The win sends them to Utah county to take on the Lone Peak Knights next Friday at 6 p.m.   Here are a few pictures from the game:

I have been taking a photography class and I needed to get some shots in before class Thursday night. With all the bad weather we've been having today was the first day I could get outside and take some pictures.

Photo of the day

As I was driving to town today I noticed two runaway cows.  A mom and her calf were on the loose out in the field just west of the house. 

First Snow of the Season

As predicted we had our first snow fall of the year last night.  The wind ahead of the storm was crazy with wind gusts of up to 75 mph up the canyon from our house.  We went from highs in the 60's on Friday to a projected high of 39 today.  Luckily by the end of the week we'll be a little bit warmer.

Fall Colors

I took this picture of my neighbor's tree yesterday and it will probably be the last good day we'll have in a while.  It's overcast today and Mantua is expected to get snow this weekend as well as next week.  We've been crazy warm this fall, with highs in the upper 60's low 70's and it's all about to change tomorrow.

So until next fall, here's something to remind you of how beautiful fall really is.

Just like when we were kids

My great-grandfather was a sheep farmer in Wyoming.  When we were kids (and I mean little kids) we happened to be in Wyoming when it was time to move the sheep from the ranch just outside of Burlington, Wyoming to the mountain for summer grazing.  (Now many of my relatives may correct me on how this was done exactly, like I said, I was a little kid the only time I was up there for the sheep move.)  We of course weren't helping, we were watching if the truth be told, we were probably in the way.

Well those memories of those couple of days came flooding back to me yesterday when about 1,000 sheep arrived in the pasture just west of the hatchery.  They over nighted in the field and then moved through Mantua, down US Highway 89 through Brigham City onto Tremonton.  I am not sure where their final desitination is or if they'll end up in  your freezer as lamb chops, but it was fun to see that not all farmers load all their sheep into big semi trucks to move.
