Hangin with the Family!

As part of the weekend celebration in Cody we had a lot of down time at the hotel. Uncle Quent was a good sport hanging out with all the nieces and nephews including some quality nap time with TJ. There would be pictures but I didn't want to wake the two of them up. From the pool to the family farm to dinner at random restaurants we all spent a lot of time together. Here are a few of the pictures we took over the weekend.

While the weather was good on Saturday we went out and took some pictures of the kids. I have posted a few at the bottom.

Visiting Yellowstone

Quent and I drove to Jackson on Wednesday with my sister and her family and went to Yellowstone on Thursday on our way to Cody. On our way home from Cody on Monday we drove back through Yellowstone. Here is are pictures of both trips through Yellowstone as well as our stop in Jackson.

Snow yesterday ... Sun today

We had a bit of snow yesterday and as all the weathermen in Salt Lake reported it's the latest the Salt Lake International Airport has had any measurable snow. Well as luck would have it, Mantua didn't get snow. For once, the rest of the state had a little snow but we just had rain. It snowed on Willard Peak (see below) and it snowed in Cache Valley but our flowers were saved from the freeze.

The picture of Willard Peak was taken at about 2 p.m. by 2:15 p.m. it was raining and gray skies. Guess I got lucky with the camera yesterday.

Quick Update

Quent and I have been fairly busy this past week, he's in the middle of 10 straight days at work and is getting grumpier by the day. The reason for the 10 straight? We're headed to Jackson on Wednesday, Yellowstone on Thursday and Cody on Friday - Sunday for my Grandfather's 90th birthday party.

In between rain storms this past week (we've got snow in the forecast for tonight, you know it's only May 23, why wouldn't there be snow in the forecast.) we were able to trim the spring flowers and plant the summer flowers and clean up the yard a bit. Quent ran water to the raspberry bushes and hooked up the water to the trees beyond the fence in the backyard. We have yet to get to the garden, in between rain and mud and freezing nights (and work) there just hasn't been any time to get the garden in. It will obviously be at least another 10 days before we can get anything done in the garden. On the bright side my tomatoes haven't frozen like some of the neighbors!

Fred (the deer) has made himself (well actually herself) a permanent fixture in the yard. He's (she's) staying out of all the plants for now and hasn't' caused too much trouble I'm just afraid as soon as the raspberries start blooming and the plums are ripe he'll find them and eat them until they're gone. We chase him out of the yard on a daily basis, it's a game really. Generally he heads to the back of the hatchery where he's found a nice area in some brush to stay away from the road, people and the elements. Hopefully the silly deer won't cause too much trouble the rest of the summer.

On Thursday Joy's brother got married in Salt Lake so I went down to watch the kids during the wedding ceremony and to take the kids over to the temple just after the ceremony. I grabbed my camera just before I left home so I could get some more pictures of the kids all dressed up.

Sunday proved to be another great day. Joy and I spent the morning sewing Morgan's costumes for next Saturday's dance recital. Uncle Quent took the kids (and Joe) over to see the baby fish and then on a tour of Mantua. They finished the tour at Mantua city park where they let the kids play for awhile.

When they got home Uncle Quent and TJ watered the flowers then Quent let TJ go wild with the hose. He thought it would be fun to wash my Jeep, and in the process got soaking wet.

Joe and Joy left just after lunch. It was a great weekend we wish it would have lasted longer. We hope that they will come camping at our house again real soon!

Will you please put the camera away?

Saturday morning I took the kids and wondered around the hatchery for about an hour, ok it was more like two hours. We had a great time exploring and taking pictures in front of old buildings, playing on the tractor and checking out the fish. The kids were troopers and we captured some great images. We took close to 500 pictures (how I love my digital camera) some good, most bad so here are a few.

Saturday afternoon Uncle Quent took the kids fishing and while they didn't catch anything, Joe managed to catch two 20 inch (plus) fish. Saturday night we had a great dinner and of course we topped the night off at the fire pit the smores!
