Garage Sale Weekend

Quent's uncle Eldon has been in town for a couple of days to help Joyce with a few projects around the house and to help with her garage sale.  Quent went down Friday to help with the garage sale and then we both went down on Saturday to help out.  Picture courtsey of Joyce.

Mother's Day

For mother's day we headed to Farmington Saturday afternoon to take Joyce to lunch and to Salt Lake for a BBQ at my mom's house.  It was a crazy busy day and we ate entirely way too much food but it was fun to get to see both of our moms for Mother's Day!

Is your fire pit functional?

Earlier tonight Joy sent me a text that read: "What are you having for dinner and is your fire pit functional?"  Needless to say I was wondering what exactly that meant.  I had just talked to her on the phone for about 30 minutes and neither the fire pit or what we were having for dinner had come up. 

I called her back and she and Joe decided that they wanted to go to Maddox for dinner and she had promised Morgan that they would roast marshmallows at home tonight.  So after a brief discussion we agreed to go to dinner with them and have them up for a marshmallow roast after dinner.

It was a little latter than we had planned on for eating so the fire got started real late.  No pictures of this impromptu dinner/marshmallow fest but it was fun nonetheless.

The Owl is Back!

No nest and only one but we were able to get some pictures of our great horned owl. (And a couple other cool pictures I took down at the other end of the hatchery.

I love the spring weather!  Quent and I went back out to the Box Elder Bird Refuge yesterday and took a bunch more pictures.  The tulips are from our front yard!

Pictures around Mantua

After the snow flurries fell and the sun came back out, Quent and I went for a drive around Mantua.  Mainly to check out the campground for our camping trip later this month, which by the way still has plenty of spring run off running through.  Here are a couple of the pictures I took.  The one of the hatchery building has the new vents they put in it just a couple weeks ago.

PS....I was wrong

So just after I finished the blog about how great may was with beautiful flowers, sun shining, yard work and a clean car, this massive dark cloud appears out of nowhere and the temperature drops...it's snowing on my tulips! Not sticking, just snowing.

April Showers Bring May Flowers....

Or so we hope!  April brought record rainfall to the state of Utah this year and much cooler temperatures than normal.  We're excited that on the first day of May that our tulips are blooming, although they were bit with a hard frost the past two nights, they seem to be bouncing back!  Quent decided that he wanted to put a border around the flower beds so we went to both Lowe's and Home Depot yesterday and decided on the landscape rock that was on sale.  We managed to get it all laid out around the house but there is still much work to be done on the flower beds.  Quent managed to get the lawn mowed although it was still wet from the rain and snow we received earlier in the week.

We are hoping for a week or two of dry weather so the camp ground across town dries out enough for the annual camping trip over Memorial Day!

PS....Can you believe it's May 1st already? Where has this year gone?

Spring Break!

Friday was the first day of my spring break, Quent had to work the weekend so I headed down to Salt Lake for a couple of days.  I saw some friends, tended my niece and nephew and even made a trip to Hogle Zoo. My brother added keyless entry to my car (thanks Joe) while Morgan and TJ played pretend fairy tale land with Aunt Cindy.

We had Quent's mom up on Easter Sunday for dinner, Quent took her out to the bird refuge prior to dinner, they had a great time looking for birds and other animals.  Here are a few pictures from the weekend. 

Hawks

We have a pair of hawks and two pairs of blue herons nesting around the hatchery.  The hawks sit on the far fence post down by the bond every morning waiting for the guys to throw out the dead fish.  Today I went down to get some pictures.
