More pictures from the bird refuge

The sun does exist!!!  After not seeing the sun since Wednesday Quent and I decided to head out to the bird refuge to get a glimpse of the birds, geese, and ducks.  Of course we took the camera and now we didn't drive the new car in the muddy mess.  We took over 400 pictures (crazy I know) here are a few of the highlights.

This and that and more snow!

It's been a cold couple of days in Mantua.  We received over a foot of new snow over the past three days courtesy of Mother Nature.  I'm not sure what we did to upset her but certainly 12 inches of snow on the ground, that didn't melt that I'm still looking at on the ninth of April is a little much. On Thursday I had to put the Jeep in four-wheel drive just to get into Mantua, now that's nuts!

We made plans to go to Baby Animal Days with the nieces and nephews in Logan and due to the snow, wind and freezing temperatures the festivities we scaled down and some were cancelled.  We decided that we'd wait for a warmer weekend to visit the farm and the baby animals.

Saturday took us to American Fork to look at a couple of cars. Joe used to coach football with Doug Smith so he and Morgan went with to go car shopping.  Joe kept trying to get Morgan's approval to get a new car and she finally said "Dad we can't get another car because then we'll have to build another garage in the back yard and then I won't have a place to play."  A very smart five year old!  Of course Joe was just teasing Morgan but once she explained her reasoning Joe had nothing more to say!

I have been looking at cars the last few months, thinking we'd get a used Hyundai Sonota or a Kia Optima, but that wasn't the case.  We've wanted to get a car to save on gas and to extend the life of the Jeep by not driving it as much.  We found a steal of a deal on a Camry that had been liquidated through a dealership that had gone out of business.  To make a long story short we ended up getting a brand new Camry that only had 60 miles on it (after driving home from American Fork, it now has 150 miles on it) and we got it for a used car price.  I haven't taken any pictures of it but here are the pictures of the dealer's website.

Snow Snow Snow

It rained all day in Garland, Quent told me that it was snowing in Mantua and that the snow was sticking to the grass.  What he failed to mention was the four inches of snow and that it was sticking to the roads as well.  I had to put the Jeep in four-wheel drive just to get home.  It's still snowing strong, another 4-6 inches expected over night.

Quent and I went out to the Box Elder Bird Refuge on Wednesday, we thought it had closed for the season but it was still open.  Here are a few pictures of the birds and the ducks (and some geese).

 This is a random truck I drive by every day on my way to school.  Nothing like the "stool box" to suck out the septic tank!

Catching up!

I finally took the time to catch up this blog and the photography blog. Things have been busy since I started working and I've fallen behind on the both blogs, laundry, cleaning the house and sleep. 

Quent and I were talking the other day and we realized that since I started working I have had something every Saturday and have not been home and it's looking like more of the same in the coming weeks.  Quent has worked seven straight days and has the next two days off and I have Wednesday off. 

We had awesome weather Friday and Saturday and woke up to three inches of new snow this morning.  Quent has created a dome around the tulips as the deer "topped" them off as they were just coming out of the ground about a week ago.  Our hen and chicks have all but disappeared as our friends the deer just think our yard has the best spring time food.

We're excited to get some yard work done and for Spring to finally arrive.  I love snow but this every weekend snowstorm has got to stop, after all the ground hog said Spring would be here six weeks early right?

Tomorrow is TJ's third birthday and today was the big birthday bash.  Here are a few pictures from the celebration!

Visiting Grandma

Quent and I made a quick trip to Cody over the weekend to visit my grandma for her birthday.  We were going to surprise her but Quent suggested we call and make sure she was going to be around.  It was a good thing we did because not only did it give her time to make us a cherry pie, it also allowed us to alter our travel plans so we would be there early enough on Friday to take her to Billings. On Friday we traveled to Billings for a doctor's appointment and lunch with Aunt Jerry, Earleen and Jim, we went to Costco and took grandma to Sam's Club for the very first time.  We also looked at a couple new cars but grandma wasn't ready to commit just yet.

Saturday morning we ran a few errands and took care of ordering the flowers from my mom for her birthday and went and ordered the balloons, a birthday tradition.  That afternoon we went to lunch with Uncle Sunny and Norma Jean and took a tour of their new home.  We spent Saturday night visiting with grandma and going through some old pictures.  We found some great pictures of my mom and some family photos over 100 years old. 

On Sunday we took grandma to breakfast for her birthday and then it was time to hit the road as Quent and I both had to work on Monday. We're looking forward to her visit in May!

This pheasant has been hanging around the house the past few days.  He goes from the front yard to the back yard, it's been fun to watch him dig for food. 

Celebrating the birthdays

My mom and dad hosted the March Birthday Dinner on Sunday and once again I took the camera and didn't take one picture.  I need to get back on that.  I'm behind on my 365 Photo Challenge and I haven't taken a picture in about two weeks. 

It was a fun dinner at my mom and dad's house.  Once again it was Quent's weekend to work so he stayed home while I headed south for a few hours.  One of these days we're going to have to make sure he isn't working on the second weekend of the month so he can attend the family shin-digs. 

Weekend Retreat

I was invited to a scrapbook retreat with my sister-in-law Joy this past weekend and we had a great time.  We had so much fun the camera didn't even come out once.  SHOCKING I know!

We left Thursday night and traveled to the cabin in Bear Lake where we met up with 18 other women for a weekend of chatter, scrapbooking and food. Thursday night we stayed up until 4 a.m. which by Friday I realized I am much too old to be staying up until 4 a.m. 

I worked on our wedding album, I figured after three and a half years of marriage I should get something put together.  The album is almost finished, I created a digital scrapbook and am excited to finally get it printed.  Friday night Joy and I went to bed about 11 p.m. just as everyone else was starting a movie.  Needless to say I slept for about eight hours and it was fabulous.

I arrived home about 6:30 p.m. Saturday night and Quent took me to dinner, it was a fabulous weekend!
