Slim & Melissa's Wedding
Slim and Melissa were married in the Draper Temple on June 24, 2009. We were fortunate enough to spend the entire day with them as they celebrated their special day.

Crazy Hail
Quent and I were finally able to plant the garden and flowers in the front yard on Saturday and just when we thought we were safe, we had two hail storms within a week. Not only did we have hail, it ended up raining the first 17 days of June.
Our flowers are finally starting to come back and the garden is doing ok, but not great. Hopefully we'll be able to enjoy some vegetables later this summer.

Busy Weekend (Lots of Pictures)
Friday night we had a BBQ with Parker, Elle, Grandma and Grandpa. The rain subsided just long enough for us to eat outside and build a fire to make smores.
Saturday the kids were able to help Uncle Quent at work which included feeding the fish and cleaning tanks. Grandpa helped Quent with a special project while it wasn't raining and was able to catch a 23 inch 4 pound trout. (See picture below)
Dale arrived Saturday afternoon and we all went to Maddox for dinner, in honor of Dale being in town. Sunday before all the house guests left to go to my dad's house to celebrate Father's Day we took Dale, Grandma and Grandpa on a tour of the hatchery.
As part of the tour on Sunday, Quent was able to show us how they spawn the fish to take eggs. I had never seen this before and it was really interesting to see how they squeeze the fish to take the eggs. See pictures below.

Visiting Golden Spike
Quent and I were fortunate to have my grandparents and Parker and Elle stay with us the weekend before Slim & Melissa's wedding. On Friday, we took a journey across Box Elder County to the Golden Spike monument.
Parker was a bit disturbed that the original golden spike was no longer in the ground and the spike on display was a replica as the original was on display in a museum at Stanford University. We then learned that the the trains on the tracks were also replicas as the original trains that met as they completed the transcontinental railroad had been sold for scrap metal in the early 1900's.
We had a great afternoon learning about the railroad and touring the museum located at the site.
Following our tour of the monument we stopped at Peach City and Grandpa bought us all ice cream cones. Thanks grandpa!

Little Girls Salon Day
Ellee and Parker flew into town a week earlier than their parents and they bounced between Joe & Joy's house, our house and my parent's house. On Wednesday Nicole, Joy and I took Ellee, Morgan and Alyssa to the spa for Ellee's ninth birthday. Morgan and Alyssa were so excited to spend time with their "much older" cousin Ellee that it was the perfect day for the girls.
After getting their hair done, nails painted (fingers and toes) we met Grandma Molly and Parker (who declined going to the spa) for lunch at Red Robin.

Peters Family Reunion
The annual Peters family reunion was held in Farmington, Utah this year. Quent and I were excited that his aunts and uncles were able to spend a day in Mantua for a tour of the hatchery and a BBQ.
Quent took everyone on a tour of the hatchery building and then down to the raceways were all the big fish are. Due to the rainy weather we weren't able to eat outside so we moved some furniture around in the house and fit everyone in the living room. The meal was complete with grilled chicken, potato salad and homemade raspberry ice cream.
It was the first time I had met his mom's side of the family as we have not had a chance to get to South Dakota yet.

Blog Slacker
Quent and I are still trying to figure out life with me working, things have been a bit different since I went back to work. I have finally updated the blog (scroll all the way down to Mother's Day). We hope to have the balance of everyday life figured out so that we can update the blog on a more regular basis.
Memorial Day Weekend
Due to a trip in March to Cody and my brother's wedding in June, not to mention my new job we decided not to go to Bryce Canyon this year for the annual Memorial Day trip. Instead we had everyone up to our house for a camping slash yard word party for the weekend. Joe, Joy, Jim and Melissa all camped in the yard while my parents stayed in the house. Nicole and Rick had other things going this weekend so they camp up for a BBQ on Sunday.
The weather was great on Saturday and the boys were able to get the sprinklers fixed and the fire pit dug. Monday morning they were able to help Quent get water run to the refrigerator we inherited from Quent's parents so that we can take advantage of the ice maker in the freezer. Sunday everyone hung out indoors as we had a big rain storm during the morning/afternoon. We were able to eat outside later in the day but it put a bit of a damper on playing outside.
The refrigerator was about a half-inch too tall for the space so they took out the cabinet and my dad is going to shorten it just a bit so that the slightly taller and much larger refrigerator will fit. It's great having a family that is so handy!!
We didn't have the camera out most of the weekend but we did get a few pictures around the fire pit last night while we were roasting marshmallows and making s'mores.
All of the campers left by noon today and Quent is taking a much needed nap. We're going to have a quiet dinner at home tonight and return to the grind of work tomorrow.
Joy was proud of the s'more she made Joe. Not only did she roast the marshmallow, she roasted the cracker as well. Joe didn't mind the blackened cracker.

Hatchery gets a new roof
The hatchery has been under construction for awhile now. It seems that the cement roof has been crumbling away over the years and the state maintenance department decided it was time to fix the building.
The project finally came to an end this past week and I know Quent is excited to have his building back. Here are some pictures of the roof pre-repair. Hopefully we'll have some pictures of the completed project soon.

Happy Mother's Day
Quent had to work Mother's Day weekend and due to being on call he couldn't leave the hatchery area. We had my family up for a bbq on Saturday and Quent was able to spend a few hours with his mom the following Tuesday.
We had a great time making and eating foil dinners, the weather was a bit cool but not long after we ate we were able to go back outside and roast some marshmellows and make s'mores.
My brothers brought up the sod cutter and were able to help us cut some flower beds around our house as the previous hatchery manager had let the grass grow into the previous flower beds. Now all we have to do is get some more top soil in and plant some flowers.
The sod cutter is a two person job! Joe and Rick did a great job with our flower beds.
