Rick and Ash helping out!

Rick and Ash came up to help us on a few projects and of course the first one took a little longer than we had planned for so only one project was completed. The hood over our stove was removed prior to us moving in as it was the original hood and was 35 years and it didn't work. We finally got the new one in and luckily for us we were able to get one that didn't have to be vented so we could recover some cabinet space by taking the vent out of the cabinet above the vent.

To make a long drawn out electrical story short, Rick ended up in the attic three times to run the electricity to the hood as the last time the electrician was at our house he pulled the power line out of the cabinet.

While Rick and Quent were playing with insulation in the attic Ash and I worked on a rag quilt table runner for her mom and for her brother. Amazingly enough I had BYU fabric so Ash decided on a BYU runner for her brother and a Valentine's Day runner for her mom.

Saturday night we played some games and just hung out talking. A big thanks to Rick and Ash for all their help with our house.

Happy Birthday Dad!

A fun day in Salt Lake and I had the camera with me the whole time but I didn't once take a picture.

Quent and I went to Salt Lake today to take my dad out to lunch for his birthday. Rick and Joe joined us at Famous Dave's and we all had a great time. We all pitched in and gave my dad a variety of random gifts but the most exciting was the web cam.

After lunch we got the web cam all hooked up so that my mom and dad can talk to their grand kids in Ohio. We tested it out and Parker and Ellee were good sports on the other end of the line to help us get everything working.

Quent and I made a couple of stops on the way home, we had to drop off a few things at Nicole's house and we made a stop at the bird world on the way home and picked up some fish for the fish tank.

All-in-all it was a great day, too bad I didn't use the camera.

Bald Eagle

There are two bald eagles that make their winter home at the hatchery. Quent had told me about them but I had never seen them until today (Quent came and found me to get pictures). There was only one when we got there and obviously it's an overcast day but here are are some pictures of our bald eagle. I hope to get some better ones soon.

Superbowl Sunday

Quent decided that he was going to cheer for the Cardinals in this year's Superbowl in part because my nephew Parker is a die-hard Steelers fan. The trash talking started the minute the Steelers beat the Ravens. The bet, a fruit(y) Parfait as Parker calls them, from McDonald's. Apparently Uncle Quent will be taking Parker to McDonald's when he is in town this summer to pay off the bet.

Quent was on call this past weekend so we couldn't go to my family's annual Superbowl party this year so we decided to have some friends up to our house for the game. Aaron, Vanessa and their kids came up for the game that was complete with bean dip, hot wings, rice krispy treats and other random junk food.

Aaron and his family decided to spend the night after the Superbowl. We had a great time with their family and look forward to more visits from them. (Sorry the camera didn't surface during the party)

Nap time

After helping me clean the house on Saturday, Quent sat down for a much deserved nap. Apparently he was cold as he pulled his hood down over his face.

Happy Birthday Nicole

Quent and I went to see my sister Nicole on Thursday for her birthday. (Her birthday was on Wednesday but Quent had Thursday and Friday off so we went down on Thursday.) Instead of going out to lunch we decided to pick up Cafe Rio and eat at her house due to the fact she has a three-week old.

We had a great time visiting with Nicole and Uncle Quent posed for some pictures with Patrick and had a great time holding him until he had to eat. He told me they were only for the pictures on the wall but I decided I'd post them on the blog.

Checking in...

Quent and I have had a busy couple of weeks. We had some washing machine drama and after attempting to fix the washer three times and having water run out of the bottom of the washer we decided it was time to buy something new. Luckily we were able to get something rather quick and I'm happy to report that the new washer and dryer are working great!

Saturday morning I spent in Salt Lake at my mom's house looking through old pictures with Joy, Nicole and my mom. What a trip down memory lane. Saturday night we went to dinner and bowling with our neighbors and had a great time. I'm happy to report that I beat Quent two out of three games. We'll be hitting the Brigham City bowling alley again real soon.

It's hard to believe that Quent and I met each other four years ago tomorrow. It has been a crazy four years and I'm glad we're settled in Mantua and we're looking forward to many more years together.

Date night with Rick and Ash

Quent had a Friday night free so we decided to take in a movie in Ogden. When we were deciding what movie to go see we decided on Mall Cop and then thought we should see if Rick and Ash want to go with us. They too had already planned on going to the movie tonight as it was opening night and Rick is a huge fan of Kevin James.

We met in Ogden and had dinner at Iggy's before heading to the theater for the movie. The movie was a little over the top and just a fun movie, the no thought required type movie. Rick even posed for a picture with Kevin James prior to the movie. I think it was a great way to celebrate Rick's 24th birthday.

Plugging along!

Things are going great in Mantua. Quent has started the four 10 hour days as mandated by the governor so he is adjusting to that. I have been working on a few things around the house and have been looking for a job, that's kind of slow going but with the unemployment rate at what it is I expect that it might take a little while to find a job.

Now that the holidays are over we're trying figure out what normal life in Mantua is going to be like, so far the town people have been very friendly and we've enjoyed the new mountian setting.

Happy New Year!

Quent and I spent New Years Eve in Salt Lake partying like it was 1999, not really but close! We went to the University of Utah vs. Gonzaga basketball game at the Huntsman Center, it was a fun game to attend, and they managed to pull out the win.

After the game we spent the night at the J&J B&B (otherwise known as Joe & Joy's house) and had a great time hanging out with the fam and ringing in the new year. The morning was fairly uneventful, we had a great breakfast cooked by Joe & Joy we did a little shopping and returned home as Quent had to work for a few hours on Thursday.

Today is filled with the exciting task of taking down all of the Christmas and holiday decorations.

We hope all of our family and friends had a great New Years and are ready for a fun and exciting 2009.
